“Its message. Its mission. The music. And the miracles we see weekly,” says Tiffany Calig, describing what struck her and her husband Zach when they first found their home at Beit T’Shuvah.
At that time, Tiffany and Zach had been married for a few years and were synagogue hopping, looking for the one that spoke to them. Zach was already in recovery, and when they heard about Beit T’Shuvah, they decided to check us out. They attended a Hanukkah dinner and loved what Rabbi Mark had to say – they were sold. They have been active and involved members of the community ever since; Zach takes a cake here every year, and their (darling) young son Joshua is joining the community as he grows!
Tiffany is a member of the Event Committee putting together Beit T’Shuvah’s Haute Couture High Tea Fall Fashion Show. “I have many friends among the BTS community members, including Heidi Bendetson, who is co-chairing the fashion show. She knows of my passions for fashion and for Beit T’Shuvah and invited me to participate,” Tiffany explains. “I was excited by the prospect of a fashion show featuring items from the BTS Thrift Store – both clothes and dishware – and it is even more involved and fun than I expected.”
“A great deal of behind-the-scenes work goes into any event; this is no exception. While everyone is bringing their A game, one person stands out – Izzy N. Her vision is incredible – she pulls things together that I never would have mixed and they look terrific! And on the larger scale, she has boundless energy and a sense of how to create an event that will be fun and which will leave attendees feeling great about BTS,” Tiffany says with a smile in her voice.
Tiffany brings vast experience in philanthropy and community service. Among other things, Tiffany has been involved as a Lifeline Counselor for The Trevor Project’s LGBTQ youth suicide prevention team, mentored a “little sister” through Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Los Angeles, served meals to underprivileged families with the Salvation Army, and (of course) “Runs for Recovery” with Beit T’Shuvah’s annual LA Marathon fundraising team. Additionally, Tiffany was crowned Mrs. California International 2016 as well as National Second Runner Up.
Despite her very busy schedule, Tiffany never misses an opportunity to participate in a Beit T’Shuvah event. “One of the best things about my involvement with Beit T’Shuvah is meeting incredible people like Izzy. I am always blown away to discover residents who bring such unique talents and abilities to the community. Our events allow us to showcase these talents, and I make new friends, too,” Tiffany explains. “The fashion show is no exception.”
