Janet Markowitz

Director of Human Resources

Janet Markowitz’s journey at Beit T’Shuvah began in 2011 with a volunteer position as an Alternative Sentencing Advocate. What started as an act of service quickly transformed into a full-time calling. Over the past 14 years, Janet has been a guiding light for hundreds of residents, helping them navigate the often-overwhelming labyrinth of the Criminal Justice System while encouraging them to uncover their passion and purpose within Beit T’Shuvah’s transformative community.

Janet brings a wealth of academic and professional expertise to her work. She holds a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Cincinnati and a B.A. in Religious Studies from the University of California, Santa Barbara. In addition to her impressive educational background, Janet is a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC II), a credential that underscores her deep commitment to the work of recovery and rehabilitation.

But Janet’s impact goes beyond her credentials. Her intimate understanding of Beit T’Shuvah’s culture, combined with her genuine passion for her colleagues and the mission they share, makes her an ideal fit for her new role as Beit T’Shuvah’s Human Resources Director. Janet doesn’t just manage HR; she embodies the heart of Beit T’Shuvah’s values, fostering a workplace where compassion and purpose thrive. Her journey is a testament to what can happen when dedication meets a higher calling.
