Cantor Rebekah Mirsky
Spiritual Counselor
Cantor Rebekah Mirsky began her career at Beit T’Shuvah in 2003 while beginning the cantorial program at AJR Los Angeles. What started as an internship became a full-time job and she became the first installed Cantor at Beit T’Shuvah where she co-created the Music in Recovery program. Rebekah is a writer and explorer of liturgy and her original music remains a part of Shabbat services as well as in the musical Freedom song. Having been raised with family addiction, her passion is recovery and, in particular the melding of Judaism and the 12 steps. While working as the cantor, Rebekah discovered a deep sense of meaning in spiritual counseling. She is dedicated to the process of teshuvah ( change, transformation, and repentance) in herself and in every resident that she sees.
Before working in Jewish recovery Rebekah had a career as a singer-songwriter after receiving a BA in World Arts and Cultures. She has completed 5 secular albums and 3 Jewish albums. She was ordained as a cantor and received a master’s degree in 2010 in Jewish Sacred Music at the Academy of Jewish Religion in Los Angeles. She also met her husband Lawrence Price who was working as a therapeutic intern at BTS and they were married in 2011. Rebekah remains inspired by the stories of the residents and is committed to adding creativity, new approaches, and most importantly active listening to each unique soul who finds It’s way through the doors of Beit T’Shuvah.
